I am working with Santa Fe Mining, CHILE a joint venture of JSW Steel Ltd,India and Minera Santa Fe of Chile. The current project is for mining iron ore from Chile. There are several projects that have been acquired by Santa Fe Mining in Chile. They are in various stages of acquisition, prospecting,  Planning & project etc.

Aug 2007 to March 2008

I have worked with JSW one of the largest steel manufacturers in India. Forging ahead, JSW Steel Ltd. is one among the largest Indian Steel Companies in India today.

JSW Steel Ltd has acquired several mining concessions in India in Coal, Lignite. JSW has iron ore mines in Karnataka. Another iron ore Mining project in Jharkhand is also in process.

 

Aug 1994 to July 2007

I have worked with Steel Authority of India Limited , India's largest corporate entity 

and amongst the top steel producers in the world with a turnover  of over 

INR 240,000 Millions.

SAIL has four integrated steel plants at Bhilai, Bokaro, Rourkela and 

Durgapur and a wholly owned subsidiary, IISCO at Burnpur having a total capacity

of 12.5 Million Tonnes of crude steel . Three plants at Salem, Durgapur and

Bhadravati are engaged in the production of Special and Alloy Steels . 

SAIL's vast portfolio of long and flat products is marketed both inside and outside

 India by its own Central Marketing Oganisation(CMO) and the International

Trade Division. Its Raw Materials Division is located at Calcutta.

I work for the Raw Materials Division(RMD) of SAIL located in Calcutta with its

mines in the states of Bihar and Orissa, producing iron ore and fluxes 

for its integrated steel plants. 

About RMD
Raw Materials Division of SAIL was formed in the year 1990 by bringing together the captive mines of Bokaro Steel Plant, Rourkela Steel Plant, Durgapur Steel Plant and IISCO , under one umbrella.

With seven iron ore mines, four limestone mines, one dolomite mine under its control. RMD is the second largest mining entity in the country after Coal India Limited.

About Bolani :: I have worked at Bolani Iron Ore Mines of SAIL for 3 years

Location

Bolani Iron ore mine is situated in the Keonjhar district of Orissa near the state boundary of Jharkhand.  Barbil, the nearest town is 12 Km from Bolani. Kiriburu is about 8 Km from Bolani via a company road connectingthe mines. The deposit at Bolani is also a part of the famous Bonai range.

History

The deposits were first reported in 1916 by one timber trader after which the Orissa Mining Development Co. Ltd. under the managing agency of M/S Bird & Co. took the mining lease. Later in 1957 a joint sector company - Bolani Ores Ltd. was floated which got the lease transferred to it. The company was nationalised in 1979 and was merged with Steel Authority of India Limited for supplying ore to Durgapur Steel Plant. Alongwith the modernisation of Durgapur Steel Plant , a new ore processing plant has been constructed at Bolani with a capacity to process 3.44 MT of ROM per year. The new ore processing plant has started stabilising in the years 1995-96.
